Our Programs

Menstrual Hygiene Education
This is one way in which the Roots team is supporting girls with the tools they need to manage their menstrual health and pursue their education without any barriers.

Environmental Education
We regularly host programs at the community park because we believe that literacy and access to knowledge is the foundation to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals!

Weekend Story Times
Over 100 children join us for our weekend story times that include books, songs, and snacks!

Disaster Response
We strive to foster strong, resilient communities by providing aid during natural and human-induced disasters. After the floods in 2024, we gave away over 300 back-to-school kits plus household supplies and food to affected families.

Mentorship
Our youth-led programs provide meaningful employment opportunities to local youth, and allow the younger community members to connect with their peers and role models in a positive environment.

Daily Activities
Besides reading, colouring is the most popular activity to do at the library! We provide free paper and coloured pencils to all visitors to encourage them to participate in their hobbies, whether that is writing, drawing, or other forms of creativity!

eLibrary
The eLibrary is officially open! There are multiple laptops that the community can use to learn, research, and connect. The Roots Library also offers tech tutoring to support digital literacy development.

Data Hub
Coming Soon! The Data Hub will be a space to collect local histories and community-led mapping initiatives.
